Pride and Prejudice captures the affectations of class-conscious eighteenth-century English families with matrimonial aims and rivalries. The story of the novel’s two protagonists, Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy, is told with wit and thoroughly describes the problems that arise from miscommunication, first impressions, true love, and scandal.

So begins one of the best and most-beloved novels in the English language. This recording begins with some biographical information about the author, Jane Austen, but is is very basic information of which most fans and readers who are familiar with Austen's work will already be aware. It may, however, be useful for those who are just discovering Austen. Then, we get to the good stuff. Even if you've read this book so many times that you find yourself speaking lines along with the narrator of this audio book (I am a nerd), you will still enjoy listening the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her sweet older sister, her embarrassing mother and younger sisters, and her complicated courtship with Mr. Darcy read aloud.
