Description
Two Muslim nations now feature civil wars between their Sunni population and their Shiite citizens. In Iraq the war burns very hot, with little prospect that it can be extinguished. The overthrow of Saddam Hussein gave power to the oppressed Shiites that they are not prepared to give up. In Lebanon the Shiite Hezbollah are locked in battle with their Sunni opposition and its Christian and Druze allies. The ‘victory’ of Hezbollah over Israel has emboldened them, especially with the continuing support of Iran.
