These two irreverent and fun hosts serve up amazingly detailed, serious information about environmental and health hazards from cosmetics to biodiesal. They are enthusiastic and informative without being preachy, and their show is peppered with personal anecdotes and rocking musical interludes. The sound quality and delivery is excellent.

More Hip than Hippie Podcast by Dori & Val is broadcast from California and underwritten by www.greenfeed.com, a site featuring eco-friendly products. This podcast definitely lives up to its title- both in presentation as well as content!

Dori and Val give great tips about how to live a green lifestyle- easy to make vegetarian recipes, simple energy and pollution saving tips, etc. They give a new definition to the word 'hip'- someone who is eco-friendly, aware of environment issues and follows the 'green' way. Most importantly, they infuse a touch of warm humour into their program. Do listen carefully to the opening 'green' rap song!

The audio quality and voice delivery are excellent. I give this podcast 5 stars and recommend it to everyone.

For everyone that thinks people who buy organic foods are squares, Dori & Val will dispel that idea. They're fun friends who enjoy living a green lifestyle, talking about eating healthy, being environmentally friendly, gardening, raising healthy kids, and much else. They're from northern California which provides them with a lot of material to draw from since they have a lot of eco friendly options up there. Their show does run an hour so it isn't right to the point, and is more like talk radio. But that's what makes it so fun.

What a fantastic podcast. This high energy, informative podcast is the best I've listened to. The hosts do a wonderful job of keeping me entertained while giving me a lot a great and realistic ways that I can contribute. Buying and using eco-friendly products seem so easy after listening to these lovely ladies.

I listened to the holiday grab bag issue. I highly suggest you do the same! :-)

• The results are in. Oprah has concluded her 21-day vegan cleansing process. During the 3 weeks, with the exception of olive oil, all the food she ate was grown in her garden.

• White House still withholding. The White House is drying to block the U.S. EPA from releasing a document that shows how the Clean Air Act could be used to regulate greenhouse gases.
• The Bush Legacy. A new initiative will ask San Francisco voters to change the name of a prize-winning water treatment plant to the George W. Bush Sewage Plant. Now that's what we call good, old fashioned bathroom humor!

Sticking with the topic of this episode, this week's Teenie Weenie Greenie™ is to try an Organic Beer (if you are of legal drinking age, of course). If you're too young to drink beer, or just don't like beer (gasp!) try an organic juice.

• Locally Known. Sydney sent along an article about a company called Locally Known. It's a farm company in Maine with a goal of providing New England fresh greens.
• Composting made easy. Tyus is trying to convince his mom to start composting, but she's worried about not having enough space and the smell. If you have enough room outdoors, an Envirocycle Composter is great. For indoor composting and small spaces, try an odor-free automatic composter, like the NatureMill Plus or NatureMill Pro.
• Plant peril. Brian sent in a couple links about how global warming is affecting plants and how the Ozone is bad for plants. He also wanted everyone to check out Farm Fountains, sculptural ecosystems you can eat.
• Organic Brew Robert tried his first organic beer recently, Stone Mill pale ale.
• Hipster Welcome! We wanted to welcome new listener Rob, who discovered More Hip Than Hippie while on CleanMPG.com.
• Free fun in DC. Cassi is planning to take advantage of the free bike tours offered by the National Park Service on her next trip to Washington DC.
• Litter box solutions. Hilary has discovered a less wasteful option for her cat's litter box. She uses aquarium gravel with a sifting litter box. The idea is to pick up the sifter with the litter, pour the cat urine down the drain, put the poo in the trash, and then wash and rinse the aquarium gravel.
• Homemade freezer chocolate. Give Hilary's homemade freezer chocolate recipe a try:
  1. Heat 1 cup of coconut oil, Agave syrup till sweetened, and 1 cup of cacao powder.
  2. Chop 1 cup almonds and 1/2 cup candied ginger.
  3. Mix the almonds and ginger on some wax paper on a cookie sheet.
  4. Pour the chocolate mixture over it and make sure all of the almonds and ginger are coated.
  5. Freeze until hard, cut into bite sized pieces and store in the freezer.

• Sharing a bright idea. This is from the Yahoo! Green blog EcoGeek. Sam Goldman is using his company, d.light design, to bring LED and solar-powered lamps to the 1.6 billion people in the world without access to electricity.
• The Green (and great) Guide. Pick up the Summer 2008 issue of The Green Guide for a great article breaking down the meanings of different beef labels. While you're perusing the pages, check out the Editor's favorite green products. One of the products featured is the Knoend Lite2go, available at Greenfeet.com!

• Seven B-B-B-Billion? The world's population will reach a staggering 7 billion by 2012 according to a new government projection.

This week's Teenie Weenie Greenieâ is courtesy of GreenBarMitzvahs.blogspot.com and is a great way to "recycle" the flowers and arrangements from your special event. At the end of your event, donate your flowers to a nursing home or hospital. Try talking to your florist before hand and ask if they will pick them up after the event and deliver them to a worthwhile cause.

• A different kind of Lifesaver. The Lifesaver is the World's first portable virus-filtering water bottle, offering clean drinking water from any source. Besides being convenient on when camping, this device could help to make safe, clean drinking water available in developing countries, war zones, and disaster areas.

• Just kill off 90% of the population, that's all. A professor at the University of Texas believes he's found a solution to Earth's environmental problems: kill off 90% of the human population. Well, you can't say he isn't creative, but I think we'll keep exploring other options. . .

Smoking weeds. Tired of those pesky weeds taking over your yard? Try this this simple homemade recipe to stop them in their tracks. Start with a quart size spray bottle. Mix 1-1.5 cups of vinegar (preferably 20% acidity) and 1.5 cup dish soap. Add solution to the spray bottle and fill the rest of the way with water. Shake well. Spray directly on weeds. The vinegar kills the weeds while the dish soap holds it in place. The best time to spray is in the middle of the day.

• That's hot. Harness the power of the sun, and always be on time, with a solar-powered watch. The Eco-Drive series by Citizen uses an ultra-thin disk of silicone under the dial that converts light into electricity to power the watch. You know your watch needs a recharge when the second hand starts to move in 2 second intervals.
• Searching for a new mouse? Google has unveiled the new Google Recycled Mini Wireless Mouse. Available in red or blue, compact and portable, the mouse is made from recycled plastic and packaged in recycled materials. The best part? You can pick one up for just $19.20.
• I'm molting! Scientists in New Zealand have developed a process that turns animal protein waste (the blood and feathers) into plastic.
• Out of this world. Japanese beer company Sapporo Breweries will be testing a new brew made with barley descended from grains that traveled in outer space. Good luck getting your hands on Space Beer, as the will only be making 100 bottles.

• Look at the bright side. A recent study expects that jobs in the solar business will grow by an average of 50% over the next year.

For your viewing pleasure. In case you haven't heard, in February 2009 the United States will switch from analog to digital television signals. If you have an analog television, it will no longer work after the switch unless you have a converter box. • Putting an end to excess gas. Nine counties in the San Francisco Bay Area have instituted a fee of 4.4 cents for every ton of greenhouse gases emitted by businesses.

• Coral Reefs getting burned. Sun screen lotions used by beach-goers are a major cause of coral bleaching according the European Commission.

Eau de Peewww! Has a skunk decided to move in a little to close your home? This week's Teenie Weenie Greenieâ is to give your unwelcome (and stinky) neighbor an eviction notice and get rid of some old perfume at the same time. Not surprisingly, skunks generally avoid perfume. Cut the foot and ankle off an old nylon stocking. Take some scrap yarn, douse it in the old perfume, and tuck it inside the foot of the stocking you just cut. Tie the top in a knot and stash any place you want discourage skunks.

• Change of position on emissions. Despite initially supporting California's request for full or partial permission to limit tail pipe emissions, the head of the EPA has reversed himself and denied the request.
