Great Audio Book, Great Price..., September 14, 2006

(I'm editing my first review, which I had the same title, but only gave it a half star rating. I did that because of the problems I had downloading it, and then not being able to download the whole book at once. I also gave it a poor rating because it hadn't heard anything that was mentioned in it's description in the first 20 chapters.
I'm leaving my first, negative review, even though since then I was able to download it one chapter at a time, over 40 of them. From 20 on, it is about music theory, not music history. It fulfills my wildest dreams. I origninally thought it incorporated music theory with music history, but the first 20 chapters were about music history only.
It ends up with the last 20 chapters sounding like new parents trying to teach their child about the joys of music, and how to make the child's own music. Great, Great, Great, audio book. Now the initial problems with it...)
...but there are some problems. First of all, it is 11 hours long, which is great, but it takes a long time to download, even with my wireless broadband connection.
I have still been unable to download all of yet, and learnoutloud won't let me choose the whole file to download it yet, because it says I have tried to download it 5 times or more, and to contact them since they won't let me download it that way anymore. I have sent an e-mail to them about this.
Secondly, from my listening of parts of the first several chapters I have been able to download, it fits it's title, but not it's description. This is not about the theory of music, but about the history of music.
Of Course, since I just bought this yesterday with my subscription, I haven't listened to all of it, or even been able to download all of it yet. In it's discription on the "Podcast Picks of the week", Sept. 13th, it states, after it's accurate title, "Explore the rudiments of music theory".
Everything I've heard is about the history of music, not the "rudiments of music theory". I have been studying music theory alot more lately, and thought this would be an audio book on that subject.
I hope I am wrong. It would be wonderful to have a book about the history of music, and the rudiments or, theory of music at the same time.
This is not a book about the rudiments or theory of music. It is just a book about the history of music, which is still great, but not what it is advertised to be.
For example, when I clicked the link to "A History of Music in the Western World" it went to a site that says.....
"Product Description
Explore the rudiments of music theory. Musical examples included.
01 Key and Scale
02 Tonality
03 Miricle of the Octave
04 The Major Scale
05 The Key As An Area
06 The Minor Scale
07 The Major Minor System
08 Modulation
09 Chromasticism
10 Keys As Form Buiding Element
11 Development of Themes"
Great Table of contents, but it is not what this audio book has. This audio book starts with early music and progesses from there. It is not about music theory.
Another thing that disturbs me about purchasing this product is learnoutloud has spyware, and was able to tell I was unable to download the complete book after 5 or more tries, and told me so, and wouldn't let me try to download it again.
They did give me an e-mail address to write to about this problem. I have been able to download small sections at a time this morning, but I am disturbed at them accusing me of piracy ,when I was not able to download the option of the whole book at one time in 5 or more times.
I love learnoutloud. I am also a composer, film maker, and songwriter and piracy is a conflict of interest for me. I am afaid though that the powers that be are not letting independents be independent, that is, they have to be with the top three to produce or distibute anything. Yes there is a big brother. Beware.
