Write a Review of The Best of Youth Radio Podcast

J.E., February 17, 2006
Reviewer: J.E. from Chicago, Illinois

The Best of Youth Radio is a podcast aimed at helping young people achieve greater social awareness. The formats for the shows vary between first-person accounts of life-altering experiences and commentary from a host about various issues facing teens today. Some past topics have included violence, eating disorders, and financial aid for college.

It's hard to give a decent review of this podcast because the shows are so completely different from each other. Some of them are quite compelling, such as the episode about one young woman's struggle with an eating disorder. Others just don't work for me, such as the one about violence in Oakland, in which the host delivered his commentary in the form of rap lyrics. Overall, I give it 3.5 stars.

Smart Portraits of Youth by Youth, February 17, 2006
Reviewer: learnoutloud from Los Angeles, California

These podcasts consist of very well done self portraits and audio essays by intelligent teenagers and young adults. They cover a wide spectrum of youth varying in race, class, and personality and deal with the many issues facing our youth today. There's usually sounds and other voices inserted into the stories to make them more interesting. And they're not too long so they are perfect brief biographical podcasts to listen to.
