Mr. Terkel talked about his life and his work. He reponded to telephone calls and electronic mail from viewers. Mr. Terkel won the Pulitzer Prize for Literature for The Good War: An Oral History of World War II. He is well known as a chronicler of the lives of ordinary Americans. He is the author of more than a dozen books that tell the stories of people he has interviewed, including Chicago, Working, The Great Divide, Race, and The Spectator. For more than 40 years, Mr. Terkel was the host of a daily radio program on WFMT in Chicago. He is an actor, having appeared on radio dramas, in theater productions, and in films, including Eight Men Out.
