Ms. Jeanne Willette does a wonderful job of "painting" an exciting time in french, english, scottish, spanish, german, austrian , and literally global history, during the latter part of the 19th century. It began in france around 1890 with art nouveau "new art" and opened the door to cubism 1907-1910, it's contemporary was the "arts and crafts" movement in england. Both styles opened the door to the "deco" period of the 1920's. This period made jewelry, paintings, funiture, china, and houses affordable to the middle-class through mass production. This was an interesting and informative read.
