The Scarlet Letter is a novel published in 1850 and written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Set in 17th-century Puritan Boston, it tells the story of Hester Prynne, who gives birth after committing adultery and struggles to create a new life of repentance and dignity. Throughout the novel, Hawthorne explores themes of legalism, sin, and guilt.

I must state, I LOVED this audio book! Long before the easy availability of audio books, I was particular about the things I listened to and the quality of the voices involved. Having, a number of times already, downloaded audio books and quickly deleted them due to poor reading quality (I now listen to a sample before downloading), I was more than pleasantly surprised with this audio book.
Mary Woods reading of The Scarlet Letter was clear, well-paced and such a sweet pleasure to listen to. In fact, I was so happy that, once done, I did a search so that, in the future, I might again have the pleasure of hearing Mary Woods read again!
Thank you, learnoutloud, for providing such nice piece of work!
