LearnOutLoud.com Review:

 One of Vonnegut's Last Interviews
In 2007 American author Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. passed away at the age of 84. Watch one of his last interviews which was conducted by John Hockenberry of The Infinite Mind series, and recorded live in the virtual on-line community called Second Life.

It''s a thoroughly entertaining interview with questions from the Second Life audience and Vonnegut''s thoughts on America towards the end of his life. He also discusses his final work which is a collection of essays entitled A Man Without a Country. This streaming video is offered by Lichtenstein Creative Media and is available through Google Video.

Kurt's Vonnegut's interview, April 26, 2007
Reviewer: jamiepuppy

Hearing Mr. Vonnegut talk about his book, A Man Without a Country, particularly at this point in America's history, is quite poignant and moving.

He states that he is ashamed of being American right now as opposed to how he felt after the end of WWII and the Great Depression, when he believed (as well as most Americans) that they were building the greatest country in history. I believe he echoes the feelings of many Americans. But as only he can, Kurt expresses his supreme dissatisfaction with the America that has evolved and it's quite effective to listen to someone with such a great mind speak his mind and share his thoughts (realistic and grim) with us. I'm glad he got that opportunity before we lost him. He stated that he wouldn't mind "pushing up daisies" right about now and envied his friends who didn't have to live to witness what has happened to our country. Well, Kurt, I believe it's going to get worse before it gets better, if it gets better, and I'm happy that you don't have to witness that.
Rest in peace. You deserve that. And thanks.
