A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol

by Charles Dickens

A best-loved holiday classic and the most famous of all Dickens' works. In her inimitable style, Miriam Margolyes brings to life the memorable cast of this yuletide treasure: Tiny Tim, Bob Cratchit, and Ebenezer Scrooge. A Cover to Cover Unabridged Classic.

Charles Dickens was born in Landport, Hampshire, England, the son of a clerk in the navy pay office. In 1814 he moved to London, then to Chatham, where he received some schooling. He took up journalism and at 22 joined a London newspaper. His novels first appeared in monthly installments and have provided the basis for many successful adaptations in the theatre, in the cinema, on radio, and on television.

Miriam Margolyes' one-woman show, Dickens' Women, (published by the Audio Partners) reflects her life-long passion for Dickens' novels. Winner of the 1992 Sony Award for Best Actress, her astonishing vocal range is used to perfection in her reading of Oliver Twist (also published by The Audio Partners). She also won the 1997 Talkie for Reader of the Year from British Spoken Word Association. She lives in both Los Angeles and England.
