Franz Kafka's classic short novel tells the strange tale of put-upon salesman Gregor Samsa, who wakes up one morning transformed into an insect. Gregor then tries to act as if nothing out of the ordinary has happened and must watch from his room as first his employers and then his family fall away from him in disgust. Metamorphosis is a modernist allegory that demonstrates how societal and familial pressures can work to crush human independence and is a primary example of Kafka's gift for finding the absurd within the most mundane of circumstances.
Translated by David Wyllie.

Good story and easy to listen to and follow... like a tale told by the fire at the cottage.
