LibriVox's 'Short Poetry Collection 001' is a collection of 29 poems by several great poets, including Emily Dickinson, Lord Alfred Tennyson, H.W. Longfellow, T.S. Eliot and Walt Whitman. I was pleasantly surprised to also find within this anthology an english translation of Jalaluddin Rumi's 'Ode 314', narrated commendably by Kayvan Sylvan. All in all, a diverse collection of poems, poets and nationalities have been brought together under this umbrella.
There are various narrators who have given their voices to this audio book, such as Peter Yearsley, Jon Ingram, Dave Foss, John Hicken, Aldon Hynes, Scott Munro, pkolter and wedschild, among others. I particularly enjoyed Aldon Hynes' rendition of Wordsworth's 'Daffodils', wedschild's rendition of Emily Dickinson's 'Because I Could Not Stop For Death', Peter Yearsley's 'The Last Rose of Summer' and Annie Coleman's 'For Annie'. While I personally think that T.S. Eliot's 'Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock' does not fit into the short poem genre, listening to it is indeed an enjoyable experience. Anybody who listens to this audio collection is sure to like the experience!
