He founded the National Review in 1955 and was its editor in chief until 1990. His column 'On the Right' appeared weekly in over 300 newspapers. His television show 'Firing Line,' PBS' longest-running show, began in 1966. He has written and edited more than 40 books, both fiction and nonfiction.
