Mark Thornton received his PhD in economics at Auburn University. He has articles in many scholary journals, and is the author of The Economics of Prohibition. His current research interests include public finance, law and regulation, the growth of government, slavery and the Civil War, the history of economic thought, monetary economics, Austrian school of economics, and current topics in public policy. He has taught at Auburn University and Columbus State University, and currently is a senior fellow at the Ludwig von Mises Institute.
