In the second of his appearances on Integral Naked—and the first in a series focusing on the details of enlightenment itself—Andrew Cohen discusses the necessity of a deeply evolutionary realization of enlightenment. In something of a role reversal, he quizzes Ken on the nature of this evolutionary enlightenment, and the two of them compare notes on the epochal nature of this evolutionary spirituality: what is it?, how is it realized?, and what does it mean for the genuine spiritual seeker?
Historically, there have been three major religious or spiritual orientations: pagan, or oneness with Earth and the manifest realm; transcendental, or escape from the manifest realm of samsara into a transcendental Heaven or nirvana; and nondual, or a union of both transcendental Emptiness and immanent Form, a union of both Heaven and Earth.
Andrew and Ken discuss the unfolding nature of this third or nondual spirituality, which Ken also calls incarnational nonduality, or embodied evolutionary spirituality, which unites or integrates both Emptiness and Form, both Heaven and Earth, in a shattering realization of the nondual Ground that is also its own evolutionary impulse and obligation.
Many people listening to this dialogue have found it incredibly useful in elucidating these three major spiritual stances, as well as going into the details of a truly evolutionary and integral spirituality that unites timeless Heaven and evolving Earth in the integral Heart.
