Terrific 30-minute discussion of all things psychology from Australia's ABC Radio National. Host and science journalist Natasha Mitchell is very knowledgeable and has interviewed folks like Steven Pinker, Dan Dennett, and others in psychology, neuroscience, and even philosophy. I've blogged about many episodes.

The podcast I reviewed was hosted by Natasha Mitchels. It is an MP3 of a national radio broadcast so the production quality is excellent. The podcast I reviewed included an interview with Cognitive scientist Guy Claxton who presented some fascinating insights concerning the unconscious. Other podcast topics have included Nueroethics and the 21st Century Brain and The Origins of Memory.

The focus of this podcast is all things related to psychology. This is one of my personal passions and interests so I will be a regular subscriber to this podcast. I would highly recommend this podcast to anyone with similar interests.

A mish-mash of popular science research of the mind. The telegenic guests seem to always be on the verge of a breathtaking new discovery, or at least a few novel ideas which will provide them with university tenure. Recreational drugs seem to be a popoular topic.

This is a syndicated radio program which sometimes syndicates (but does not podcast) content from the BBC, which makes the program descriptions a little confusing. Production and audio quality are professional and radio quality. Programs are 25 minutes.

I love psychology and I found this podcast from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation to be very intelligent and fascinating. The host interviews leading psychologists in Australia who are experts in a certain aspect of our minds. I listened to a podcast which psychologically deconstructed the modern day self help movement and it was great. Every week it looks like a new excellent topic. I'm subscribing to this one.

2008-11-29 Extraordinary Cases in Psychology: Part 3 of 4—The man with the hole in his head

Author: ABC Radio National
Sat, Nov 29, 2008

Extreme cases of brain damage litter the history of neuroscience. Phineas Gage is perhaps the most famous. A railway worker in 19th-century Vermont, he managed to survive a catastrophic accident—the penetration of a metre-long iron rod through his head. What happened to Gage has become the stuff of legend, and fundamentally changed him and the way we think about the brain. 2008-11-22 Extraordinary Cases in psychology: Part 2 of 4 - The wild boy of Aveyron

Author: ABC Radio National
Sat, Nov 22, 2008

In 1800, a young boy emerged from the woods of the Aveyron District in France, naked and wild. He became a scientific enigma to influential psychologist Dr Jean-Marc-Gaspard Itard, and redefined the nature vs. nurture debate. His legacy lives on today, especially in the Montessori approach to learning. Sat, Nov 15, 2008

When a young woman, Kitty Genovese was brutally killed in a prolonged attack in New York in 1964, not one of 38 witnesses called for help until too late. The case led to the naming of the phenomenon known as the Bystander Effect. The first of four compelling programs on influential cases in the history of psychology. 2008-11-08 The voices within...

Author: ABC Radio National
Sat, Nov 08, 2008

Many people hear voices inside their head -- some are diagnosed with schizophrenia, others live privately with the experience. International leaders in the Hearing Voices Network gather in Australia this week, controversially challenging the belief that voices are a pathological symptom without psychological meaning. They argue people can find it therapeutic to 'dialogue' with the voices. Meet three clinicians pushing the boundaries.
