Biological anthropology is the study of the evolution, genetics, anatomy, and modern variation within the human species.
The goal of this course is a comprehensive exploration of the dynamic interplay between biology and culture that shaped human prehistory. In exploring the sweep of human evolution from 6 million to 30,000 years ago, you learn how that interplay continues to shape our lives today.
Subjects discussed include natural selection, the development of hominids, prehistoric gender roles, the origins of language, the biology of race, and a consideration of modern human life from an evolutionary perspective.

“Biological Anthropology” was an interesting Teaching Company course by Professor Barbara King of William and Mary College. Professor Barbara King used to the lectures to lead you through the view of how evolutionists have determined the manner in which the world came to exist, and how Man has progressed since then.
Even though the subject matter was anthropology, a lot of the lectures seemed very philosophical in nature. Professor King did present evidence to support her claims, but there were other times when the questions about the progression of the universe went unanswered, and this can be possibly attributed to the “unknowns” in Science.
However, the most interesting parts of the lectures were those at the end that involved presentations on the topics of the “Human Race” and “Body Fat and Obesity”. These topics are very popular in the media today, so it was interesting to discuss them from an anthropological standpoint. The total listening time was twelve to thirteen hours using audio cassettes.
