Artist Guo Jian: Before China opened its doors to the rest of the world, Beijing artist Guo Jian wanted to mix with like minded people interested in culture and the arts so he joined the People's Liberation Army. His work as a propaganda artist in the PLA remains emblematic in his contemporary work.
