Angela Y. Davis, author, activist, and professor of the history of consciousness at UC- Santa Cruz, joined us for a three-hour discussion about her life and work. Professor Davis is the author of "Angela Davis: An Autobiography," "Women, Race, and Class," "Women, Culture, and Politics," "The Angela Y. Davis Reader," and "Blues Legacies and Black Feminism: Gertrude 'Ma' Rainey, Bessie Smith, and Billie Holiday." Her latest book is "Are Prisons Obsolete?"
