This podcast by itconversations.com, with intermittent posts, provides a discussion on various topics related to technology, with each broadcast focusing on a specific technology, its application, and advantages and disadvantages. The latest clip (during the writing of this review) focuses on open source software, mainly the world of Linux, and the open source Helix products by RealNetworks. The previous broadcasts include topics like CD-R's, how reliable they are as a backup, the disadvantages of generic disks, the differences between a fast and a slow CD-R drive, to name a few things; and a conversation with Eric Rice, founder of Audioblog.com, who discusses the technology behind it, and its applications.
The content, like the content of other podcasts by ITC, are technically flawless and technologically enticing. However, as some other ITC podcasts that I have reviewed, this podcast takes the beating when one considers its audio quality. The sound of the host, once again, contains some static noise, and the voice of the person being interviewed is at a different volume level and quality due to him or her being interviewed through either telephone or net telephony.

But according to its creator, David Heinemeier Hansson, the Rails philosophy of convention over configuration and abstracting the user from making choices, continues to give its developer community a competitive advantage. The only parallel that can compete will have to be something that is significantly better than Rails which, although it is a possibility, doesn't seem very likely.
