Sometimes, a title in itself can be deliciously irresistible- 'The Antenna Audio Tour of Literary Houses in London'. As a literature student in India who had only read about the homes of British writers, this podcast offered me the second best option- an audio tour of these hallowed places. Pascal Langdale, the narrator, guides us through homes of such masters as John Keats and Thomas Carlyle. Apart from describing the architecture and location, he narrates anecdotes and stories attached to each home and writer.
For example, when describing Carlyle's house in Chelsea, he tells us that it was the creative hub of london- writers like Charles Dickens and George Eliot frequented it. An interesting tidbit the narrator tells us is that Thomas and his wife Jane were in effect the first 'celebrity couple'. These anecdotes make up for a very interesting podcast. The narration by Pascal Langdale is clear, and the audio quality is good. This podcast is a wonderful idea which lives up to the tantalizing treats offered by its title. I recommend it to all literature buffs.
