The USC Flora L. Thornton School of Music brings together a distinguished faculty of world-renowned teachers and musically gifted students from around the globe. In this diverse cultural environment, students receive instruction in virtually all professional and scholarly branches of music.Founded in 1884 and today one of the oldest continually operating cultural institutions in Los Angeles, the Thornton School produces more than 500 concerts annually on the University Park campus and in venues throughout Southern California. The school consistently ranks among the top 1 percent of music schools and conservatories in the United States. Graduates attain positions with major orchestras, ensembles, recording studios and music industry firms, and perform on stages and in studios around the world.
