 Tony Robbins, The Why Guy
Self development expert Anthony Robbins speaks at the TED Conference on what motivates people. Robbins insists that he isn''t a motivator, but instead he is out to find what motivates people and what it is that makes the difference in the quality of people''s lives. He discusses briefly the core human needs that drive people. This talk is available on streaming video from TED.com.

and if you look at the other reviews, that's what you see.

But if we LISTEN to Tony Robbins (or anything for that matter) without getting distracted by the need to express our approval or disapproval (why do we all need to do that anyway? isn't it kind of emotionally arrested to think that whether we like or dislike things is any significance to anyone - even to ourselves?)

as I was saying before I interrupted myself, if we LISTEN to what he is sayng, it's valid. the reason he seems to keep saying it over and over again is actually the mark of a good teacher - a good teacher keeps finding new ways of teaching you the same thing until you eventually understand it. The message he is teaching is no less meaningful because it is 25 years old. In fact the message is much older.

I too have been to "Unleash the Power", I have the books, I have the tapes. I think of Tony as "The Great Reminder". His message is simple, really - perhaps more so now that he has distilled it over the past 25 years. Tony's genius is his ability to re-kindle our excitement about taking up the reins in our own lives when we have gotten off track.

This is a great and very concise presentation - well worth the 20 minutes invested in it.

I have seen Tony Robbins speak at one of his "Unleash the Power Within", and this TED video is just a really short version of the speech he's been giving for 25 years. I appreciate his audio programs, though I know his background is marketing and he comes across as always trying to sell something (which I guess is why his yearly earnings are over $80 million). This was even more the case at his UPW seminar, and it was disturbing to see so many people in a cult-mindset, and Tony saying "sign up your friends and family". That was when I left (and I won't go into the creepiness of what happened after that).

I think it dubious that Robbins was invited to TED. Other than Al Gore, every other speaker I've seen there is fresher and more interesting, not to mention someone I've never heard of.

I Love Tony's energy, October 30, 2006

I very much enjoyed Tony's video...he talks from the heart, speaks the truth and is such a great being...very motivational...

His vibrancy and love for others is a great gift that he owns...

Thank goodness for people like Tony who are not afraid to show others the way to acheiving success, peace of mind and happiness.

Thankyou
