Mahatma Gandhi - Part 1, February 17, 2006
Reviewer: girijad83 from India

I reviewed the above mentioned broadcast of this podcast. It is a live recording of M.K. Gandhi's conversation (the father of India).

This broadcast starts off with an Indian cultural song tune played with a traditional Indian percussion instrument called a 'Shehnai', followed by a melodious folk song. The podcast, however, is in Hindi. The narrator starts off by relating an incident about Gandhiji when he had fallen ill on a cold October winter and refused to take medicines prescribed by the doctor. Gandhiji's voice follows, telling his wife about how the truth is embodied in the two words "Ram Nam", meaning the "name of Ram" (a Hindu God). He says that this truth is the best healer, but it requires patience. He goes on to talk about Satya and Ahimsa, the Hindi words meaning Truth and Non-violence.

This podcast provides the world access to audio clips that would require scholars to travel all the way to India to obtain.

The voice of Gandhi is very difficult to understand as it is very weak, and is made worse by the hissing in the audio which I'm sure can be removed by using the latest digital sound equipment. It is the main reason why I've given this podcast a low rating.
