Jerusalem Post columnist, Jonathan Rosenblum, speaks about some of the differences in the challenge posed to Judaism and Christianity by Darwinism from both a theological and sociological point of view.

While both major monotheistic faiths have been forced to grapple with issues raise by Darwinism, the battle has not always been waged in the same way. Rosenblum will also address some earlier disputes within Judaism over the reconciliation of Judaism and rationalism.

In addition, Rosenblum touches on the threat posed to general society when scientists claim to have unlocked the secrets of creation, and on that basis to be the ultimate moral authorities as well. The framing of some of the debates over stem cell research as one between science and ideology is but one example of a larger pattern.
