"Let him/her who knows what they are talking about cast the first stone," to paraphrase Jesus in John 8:7. Matthew Fox is a distinguished, if non-traditional theologian, who has taught for many years and authored many books on subjects theological. If jfk1952 is unaware of this fact, perhaps a search on google would be helpful. Having said this, jfk1952 is certainly entitled to disagree with Matthew Fox and his take on the Gospel, but is not entitled to dismiss Fox as a theological lightweight ; I find much of what he says stimulating, but I don't agree with everything he says. The history of theology is filled with people who said things others thought were terribly heterodox (e.g. Martin Luther), but history sometimes judges otherwise. I'd encourage anyone to listen to Matthew Fox, compare what he says to the scriptures of Christianity and to the theological statements of the churches, and judge for yourselves whether or not he knows what he is talking about.

The essential problem is that the speaker hasn't a clue about things theological. His mindset seems to be that the church is, or should be, the bastion of morality and the caretaker of civil rights. That may be a part, but only a tangential part. The REAL essence of Christianity is the GOSPEL of Jesus Christ. Before he sets himself up as a theologian, perhaps he should be aware of what he is talking about.
