Richard Dawkins Talk on The Magic of Reality

With popular books such as The Selfish Gene and The God Delusion, Richard Dawkins moved both evolutionary biology and the new atheist movement into the mainstream. In this presentation hosted by Google, Dawkins dives into childrenвЂ™s literature with his recent book The Magic of Reality. While admitting he can enjoy fairy stories of frogs and princesses, Dawkins hopes with his book to reveal a natural world that is even more exciting than the world of make-believe. Each chapter of the book asks a big question about our universe (What is the Sun? Why are there Seasons? Are we Alone in the Universe?), which is then answered through illustrations based on modern scientific understanding. Dawkins is quick to remind everyone that magical stories are fun, but he also hopes youвЂ™ll find the truth has a magic of its own. The talk is available on YouTube from their Google Talks channel.
