It’s like tapas for the musical soul….
Every Sunday from 10:00pm to 11:00pm ET Grammy Award winner Steve Earle hosts a music show where a renowned guest brings in about 6 songs to play, sharing what moves him/her and what music made a difference in his/her life. “We hear some cool stuff, stuff that you don’t normally hear on the radio,” Steve said on air. “It always amazes me what people bring in.”
In between each song, Steve engages his guest in discussion about current events, music and culture. Listeners hear stories like the social history of James Brown’s “I’m black and I’m proud” as recounted by Chuck D, how fright-author Stephen King loves “You are my Sunshine,” and why Ben Folds produced a CD with William Shatner.
Once every month, Steve takes the reins and hosts a themed D.J. show, sharing from his vast personal library of musical knowledge and experience.
"Steve Earle is a natural fit for Air America Radio," said board member, investor, and former Air America CEO Doug Kreeger. "Political discourse goes beyond talk and conversation, and Steve's message in his music have extreme relevance to the changing social conditions that we live in."
Other guests have included: Darryl Hannah, Hubert Sumlin, Judy Collins, Jonathan Demme, Patty Smith, A. Whitney Brown, and more. Visit the archives to download past shows.
