090: Mike Rashid & Grant Cardone

Tue, Jul 19, 2016

Grant Cardone interviews Power Player Mike Rashid, owner of Iron Addicts Gym in Miami. Growing up in Brooklyn, Mike had an up and down childhood with his dad out of state and one of the biggest drug dealers in town affording him and his mom the luxuries of a mansion in Long Island, but it all came crashing down when he died and the financial struggles began. He took up boxing and found that it was actually more mental than physical, like a chess match. Mike became a successful personal trainer but lost everything with a legal incident. Homeless, he fought his way back and now uses the same skills and mental toughness in the gym to grow his businesses. One of the big takeaways from this episode is that if you tell others to do something, you must be willing to do it. Confidence can be built, and if you don’t know what you’re doing it’s ok, just fill in the walls as you go.

089: Tim Storey & Grant Cardone

Tue, Jul 05, 2016

Today on Power Players Grant Cardone interviews Tim Storey, an inspirational author, speaker, and life coach who works with celebrities from Oprah to Charlie Sheen. Tim says that sometimes you are just one conversation from the break you’re looking for. Power Players is about people who have achieved power, and Tim now travels the world speaking to crowds from Singapore to Nigeria. Everyone is battling something, and in different areas of life—financial, familial, health, etc.—you are in recovery zone or discovery zone. In a marathon, everyone starts running at the beginning, but when you get to mile 15 it’s just the Kenyans out front. It’s because they’ve battled and gone through some hard training. Coming from Compton, Tim knows small beginnings but working through struggle defines him. At the age of 8 he went to Disney Land and became exposed to a new world—new possibilities. There are two ways we grow: education and exposure. By choosing to think big and positive even in small places, he is who is today. Shift your satellite dish to what’s possible. Be a happy dishwasher and the real you will make a demand on the person that you’ll become.

088: Victor Young & Grant Cardone

Wed, Jun 08, 2016

Grant Cardone interviews Victor Young, owner of 3 car dealerships on the west coast of Florida—including a Lamborghini one, Executive Producer at Media & Management Global and CEO of Victor Young Productions and V. Young Enterprises. He works to teach others what he knows and shows people how to experience financial freedom. Victor believes everyone is born with greatness inside of them and it’s every good leader’s job to help them maximize it.

It all started with his father working and giving him an example of a work ethic. The youngest of nine kids, he learned early on to work like a man—not a boy. He knew there was a rate that money travels at. He was in a hurry to get his landscaping projects finished to move on to the next project. Today he reverse-engineers. When he understands how something works, he looks at a deal from reverse, finding the challenges and then fixes them before diving in. What you know you own. Don’t let others discount you by bringing your value down. He’s not defined by any one job, he’s an investor.

Victor Young is also known as the Daily Life Coach and this is what he says about money:
7 figures is enough to make you worried, 8 figures is starting to get comfortable, but it’s not until you get to 9 figures that you are a player on solid footing. Get your money right!

087: Frank Kern & Grant Cardone

Tue, May 31, 2016

The legendary Frank Kern comes on Power Players with Grant Cardone. Frank knows how to automate internet marketing, sales funnels, email campaigns. There are two types of ads, the most common being “We exist” and the goal is just for general awareness. The second type is direct response which causes consumers to respond to an ad in a direct way. This second way is measurable and what Frank does. He builds systems that turn advertising into profit. Every ad dollar should measurably return profit. Your advertising isn’t getting you as much attention as you think it does. The biggest mistakes people make are as followed:

1) Not doing advertising
2) Not doing direct response
3) Not following up

Bottom line—you aren’t going to get into power without advertising.

086: Peter Dunn & Grant Cardone

Tue, May 24, 2016

Grant Cardone interviews Peter Dunn on Power Players. Known as Pete the Planner, he’s written 10 books and is also a columnist. In 1975 88% of people had a pension. Today it’s less than 10%. He warns people that they must save and become millionaires. Money is behavior, it’s not math. Money is like toilet paper, when there’s a bigger roll available you use more of it. You need to be on the offensive and earn more income but you also should be on the defensive. If there is a hole in your boat it won’t matter how much income you make, you will still sink. There are 3 areas of money you need to concern yourself with:

1.Past—debt
2.Present—spending now
3.Future—setting yourself up

If you have money going to the past that is going to hurt your present and future. To become a millionaire you have to understand time. Many people don’t understand compounding interest. In order to retire you will have to break your dependency on your earned income. There’s also a difference between being a millionaire and living a millionaire lifestyle. He bottom line is that In order to ever become a millionaire, you must be putting aside some income.

Grant Cardone interviews Richard Lorenzen on Power Players. Richard was making 6 figures at 15 years-old. At 24 years old and he got offices in Rockefeller center as CEO of 5th Avenue Brands with a payroll of 350K. If you don’t know PR, you don’t know business. Thanks to the internet the playing field has never been more level—if you can bring value. While advertising is limited to a certain reach, PR is more upside because when you get on a CNN Insider or Huffington Post the potential return can be higher with a larger audience reach. Richard explains that PR should be before advertising on your budget because you need people to know who you are. Be warned though that PR can’t do everything for you, there needs to be content in order to get to the right people. An Independent learner, Richard went to the library and studied up on marketing and how to build websites as a young teenager because schools don’t teach things like internet marketing. Everyone must take the same initiative if they want to change their lot in life. Richard advises to work hard to create a brand that really captures what you believe in.

Want a massive lesson from a dominator in the entrepreneurial world? Grant talks with people from the bottom to the top who have made it, but you may not know of them yet.

How do you do $1-million/month without traveling the world networking?

Brad’s story begins in a small town in Eugene, Oregon with a population of roughly 1500. He has been lower class, went to middle class and back then would have thought he was rich. Unfortunately his uncle had allowed their insurance at their bar to lapse and a patron had an accident; the lawsuit wiped them out financially and they went back to lower class… but kept their high class taste. This was at the age of 12.

Since he was a kid he was always interested in making money. He would buy packs of gum cheap at the store and sell it to kids for profit at school. This continued on through his adolescence into his adult years.

When he was a teenager he wanted a car and his father told him to go and earn his own.

Brad Lea’s company is a web-based interactive training and communication platform to create large-scale recurring revenue. His company, which he grew from the ground up, is now earning $20-million this year, and expanding every year.

When it comes to no BS motivators Larry Winget is the man.The Pitbull of Personal Development® “World's Only Irritational Speaker,” six-time New York Times/Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author and Star of A&E's Big Spender joins Grant Cardone for some hysterical commiserating about average people making stupid decisions.

As a kid Larry was poor and made fun of for wearing the same jeans to school every day. He decided he didn’t like the way being poor felt and would strive to be wealthy. He says the problem is that our country sets people up to “suffer in comfort.” By 13 years old Larry outworked everyone. His motivator was self esteem. He drove the bookmobile in college, and worked his way up from AT&T phone operator to the marketing department then to area sales. It wasn’t until he decided to become an entrepreneur and a brand that he was able to strike a chord through his in your face book titles. Such as:

Shut Up, Stop Whining, & Get A Life: A Kick-Butt Approach to a Better Life (2004)

People Are Idiots and I Can Prove It!: The Ten Ways You Are Sabotaging Your Life and How To Overcome Them (2008) and his latest book,

"Grow A Pair; How To Stop Being A Victim and Take Back Your Life, Your Business and Your Sanity" (2013)

Larry has much to say about entitlement and why it’s just as dangerous to be making $100k without any real ambition because it’s that ok with comfortable that traps so many. Larry offers gems of wisdom as to why people aren’t getting what they want. He advises people to figure out what is most unique about them and exploit it. He also offers the game-changing 3 questions that solve any problem and you see the moment where Grant is lit up by it.

Grant has never interviewed someone who has been through what Luke has been through.

Luke Murphy is a South Floridian who was raised by a Marine with three brothers. His father taught him at an early age, “No risk, no reward,” and that you can’t get what you don’t go after.

At 10 he watched Desert Storm on TV and knew he wanted to go to war for our country. He joined the National Guard at 17 just before 9/11 happened. He went right to active duty in the 101st Airborne Infantry. And he was the Sergeant of his own team in 2003.

“In the military you’ve got what you’ve got. You can’t drop a bad troop; you can’t let a toxic guy go. You have to build them up and get them going.” – Luke Murphy

Marco Maisano, from Australia, is going to blow you away with his story. He dominates the Australian marketplace.

To prove how dedicated he is to speaking with Grant, Marco Maisano was willing to do an interview at 2 AM his time, showing he has whatever it takes.

Mr. Maisano is Italian, born in Argentina, who moved to Australia as a child where he sacrificed his whole life to be a professional soccer player. This was the same legacy his whole family lived by—being a ball player. At 16 he left his parents to move to Holland to play soccer professionally and he says one thing, “There are no friends in sports.” You’re there to take someone else’s job and they are trying to take yours—it’s dog eat dog.

Sport is the biggest game of opinion: one game you are a star, the next no one knows who you are. If you take being a top-level athlete into business, business becomes easy. If you have the attitude to dominate, you will work harder which will result in success.

“In business, opinion is based on credibility.” – Marco Maisano

Every week on Power Players Grant Cardone shares with you someone who has gotten themselves, their family and their business into a place of power. Chase Hughes, the creator of Ellipses Behavioral Laboratories is talking with Grant today about how to understand body language, words, eye movement and other aspects that tell how a person really feels. These are invaluable techniques for a salesperson and will help skyrocket you into massive success.

WHAT IF YOU COULD SEE THE PRIVATE THOUGHTS OF STRANGERS?

Chase has laid out a behavioral table of elements for a more concrete understanding of human responses.

For example: Folded arms does not always mean you are shutdown

The primary focus was to teach behavior analysis to government agencies and police departments. From body language all the way down to eliciting a confession based on the colors and smells in a room. Lie detection without a lie detector; interrogation techniques without ever harming someone.

EllipsesBehavior.com:
• Behavioral Profiling
• Lie-Detection
• Interrogation
• Behavioral Engineering
• Body Language

“You eat what you kill” gives you the instinctual drive to detect these indicators from people you are interacting with.

A quick take on blinking:
The average is 21 blinks per minute. You will blink less the more interested you are in a person or product, the less you will blink, all the way down to 7 blinks per minute. The more stressed you are, the more you will blink.

Just watch the person you are selling to, and watch their blinking. You don’t need to count it, but you can tell if it’s speeding up or slowing down. If it’s speeding up, you need to change the subject because you aren’t telling them about something they need.

3 things you can do to see the private thoughts of strangers:
1. Compression on the lips is a disagreement
2. A heavy computer user will tap their dominant finger when in agreement
3. Breathing into the upper chest means they are controlling how they are perceived

Before he was on Fox TV or business shows he realized there was another channel of communication. He came to this at the age of 3 and knew he did not fit in, especially at school.

It was really hard for him when he first came to the United States from Mexico when he saw the dishonesty between adults—the lack of transparency. And he realized in his 30s that entrepreneurs took the career path they did because they can’t—they literally can’t—follow other people’s rules.

He loves to learn like crazy. He will read 13 books on one subject and be totally consumed until he understands it.

Tue, Jun 09, 2015

Power Players is a show all about people who make waves in the entrepreneurial and business world. People gracious enough to share their story, their wisdom and their tips on how others can turn their dreams into a reality. Today Grant is speaking with the legendary Charles Koppelman. A dominator in the musician and celebrity landscape who has built up the careers of people like Eddie Murphy, Jennifer Lopez, Barbara Streisand, and Frank Sinatra to name a few.

His childhood, spent in the suburbs of New York wasn’t filled with music or instruments; it was focused on basketball and baseball.

His neighbor happened to be the editor of Cashbox Magazine, which was the bible of the music business. He would see the magazines when visiting his house and looked at them because of the pictures of famous people inside; he didn’t pay much mind to it then.

When he was a teenager two of his close friends were musicians and they wanted to set up a trio. Charles had no musical talent and didn’t know how to play an instrument, but he made the commitment to join the trio because being in a band was a great way to meet girls.

He knew of 10 different record companies within a 3-block area of New York from looking in Cashbox Magazine. He convinced his friends to go up to that area of Manhattan to pitch their trio. They got signed by Shell Records after doing a demo and returned back to their normal lives. A few weeks later they heard back from some producers from the record label.

His net worth is now over 300-million dollars, but Mr. Koppelman humbly points out that is an old report.

Today Grant is speaking with Darren Hardy, a serial and sick entrepreneur that you can find at RollercoasterBook.com. He’s been connected and interviewed with Steve Jobs, Richard Branson, and more. You think money and start-up; this man has dropped in on them.

“Entrepreneurship has to be up and down.” – Darren Hardy

But before that, as a kid a 23-year old, single father in Albuquerque, New Mexico raised him. His father was a coach, and he raised him in the coaching style—like boot camp. His father had 2 other children with a new woman, but that woman never accepted Darren into the family.

He attributes his highly successful life to his highly dysfunctional upbringing.

When you achieved things, the sun set on your forehead; when you didn’t, it was a cold dark place to live. As a result of that is why Darren is a high-seeking achiever. On Power Players Grant Cardone talks with people in power who are generous enough to share their success with other people. Will Weinraub is a 29-year old CEO and founder of LiveNinja.com, which is a platform that allows people to earn money sharing their insights with others.

He was born and raised in Miami Beach and got into tech by accident at the age of 13. During the age of AOL, CompuServe and Prodigy they had topic-based chat rooms. He was really into professional wrestling and someone in a chat room said they will give someone $100 to build a website for them.

He accepted the gig with no idea how to build a website. He took the $100 he received in the mail, went to the bookstore, and bought HTML for Dummies. Over the weekend he copied code segments from the book and the client loved the final product.

After that he went back into the chat room and asked if anyone would like a wrestling fan site for $100 and four more people hired him. He expanded out to other demographics such as Brittney Spears and hip-hop and was soon making thousands per month as a 13-year old.

His takeaway is, “You don’t have the skills now to meet the demand, you just have to want to strive to meet the demand.”

Grant adds, “Commit to more.”

Will agrees, “JFDI – Just Fucking Do It.”

Thu, Apr 16, 2015

043: Taylor McCarthy & Grant Cardone

Author: Grant Cardone
Tue, Apr 14, 2015

On Power Players Grant speaks with massive entrepreneurs and businesspeople that are making changes in their industries and dominating their space.

This week Grant is speaking with Taylor McCarthy, a 25-year old with information and ammo that will put you in power—he is a cold call pro. A Solar City regional manager from Boston, Massachusetts and lived out of a suitcase for his first few years of grinding.

At 22-years old he was the #1 Sales Rep in the entire United States for Verizon/Comcast.

He was brought up in a small town and at a very young age he was worried about money. At 13 his parents divorced and he was raised with his father who didn’t have much money, even though he worked constantly. Everything his father made he put towards his children. His father also taught him discipline, waking him up every day at 5 AM to be the first caddy to the golf course.

Having absolute belief and certainty in your thoughts leads to your judgment and emotion, which lead to action. And with door-to-door, your job is 90% mental. Without an absolute belief in yourself, you cannot dominate.

Taylor sees today, with his interview on Power Players, as one of the most important day of his life, and not just for himself, but also for the people who have helped him get to where he is today.

At the age of 18 he has a golf scholarship to go to college. His father encouraged him to take the path furthering his formal education, but Taylor made the decision to make sales his life and career. He has now been doing door-to-door for 7 years and has made over $1-million in sales.

Want a quick lesson is success from the successful? Tune in and take notes. Grant looks for people generous enough to share their time, energy, insights and even failures. He’s a 42-year old Armenian stock trader, made hundreds of millions of dollars, lost it, and made it all back.

His life was perfect until he was 26 years old. He was bred to be a trader. His father was a trader and as a kid at 7 or 8 he was looking at gold charts plotting things out with him.

His family comes from Turkey and fled after the genocide around 1915, by foot, to Beirut, even eating grains from camel shit on the way! His grandfather was a hustler, living in the streets. He arrived in Beirut with pennies in his pocket and became a very successful silk trader.

“By low, sell high. The basic value of spread is the same in any market.” – Seth Setrakian

Perspective is very important, and for Seth he takes a step back when he encounters a setback. Genocide and mass exodus are problems; losing some money on Friday is not a problem.

040: Mike Michalowicz & Grant Cardone

Author: Grant Cardone
Tue, Mar 24, 2015

This week Grant is talking with Mike Michalowicz, who is a 42-year old CEO of Provendus Group, a consulting firm that ignites explosive growth in companies that have plateaued. He is a former small business columnist for The Wall Street Journal; is MSNBC’s business make-over expert; is a keynote speaker on entrepreneurship; and is the author of Profit First. Grant and Mike discuss how arrogance can take a Power Player down, and what it takes to build back up from zero.

“Profit is not an event. Profit is a habit.” – Mike Michalowicz
Mike Michalowicz grew up in Northern Jersey without any entrepreneurial influences from his family. They taught him to get one job and stick with it for life. He turned that into getting one job, and that one job is the company that you own.

Passion gets you excited, but purpose is what you need to do in life before you die. On the surface passion seems important, but you have to go deeper to something that is bigger than yourself. Once you know your purpose in life, build a business around that. Ask yourself what your purpose is and do it every day until you find it.

“The most important thing that ever happened to me was losing everything and being on the brink of bankruptcy.” – Mike Michalowicz
Mike admits that at the age of 35 he arrogantly began a ‘pump and dump’ tactic after selling two successful companies. He had to go home and face his family to tell them that their quality of life was stolen away by his arrogance.

“Well-dressed poverty is still poverty. Just because you act like the big man on campus means you are.” – Mike Michalowicz

She put herself through Wharton college by running football pools and graduated at 22 with $40,000 in student debt which she paid off within a year and a half.

Today Grant interviews Koka Sexton, age 39, who is recognized by Forbes as the #1 Social Salesperson in the world. He is also the go-to guy for LinkedIn, the world’s largest, most professional network.

Koka grew up in the upper-middle class with a father who had served in the Air Force, and was a private investigator that owned his own business. This gave him his entrepreneurial roots at a young age, and set him on the path of law enforcement.

Koka’s view on the ‘middle class’ is that, “You’re either not making it, or doing extremely well.”

He joined the Army as a part of the Military Police field unit, but as a reservist he had to find work in between his deployments. While he serving in the Army, another soldier saw something in him that he hadn’t recognized in himself, and encouraged him to get into the tech field. He took a huge risk changing career paths, and never looked back.

“Complacency kills.” – Koka Sexton

When interviewing for a job at the front desk of a company, he was told he would be emptying the dishwasher—He let them know he didn’t mind and he just wanted in.

One day at that company he ended up helping a customer on the phone as the VP of Sales was walking through the lobby. Long story short, two weeks later he was sitting at a sales desk.

Author: Grant Cardone
Tue, Jan 27, 2015

Patrick Bet-David, an American entrepreneur, author, financial advisor and a member of the 101st Airborne. Born and raised on Iran, just before the Islamic Revolution of 1979. He grew up with tape over his windows in his home so that when a bomb would land, the blast wouldn’t shatter glass all over the place.

He escaped Iran at the age of 10 with his family in 1989 to a German refugee camp and got exposed to many different cultures there. He learned about free enterprise and entrepreneurship while in the camp. He collected bottles at German swimming pools to get the money together to purchase his first Super Nintendo so that him and his refugee camp friends could play it.

November 20th, 1990 was the day he came to America; simply put, he came for freedom. When you get the green card to go to the US you have celebrations for weeks for the chance at a new life—they had applied in 1984. They went to Glendale, California because of the large Middle Eastern population.

He speaks Armenian, Assyrian, German, English and Farsi. His favorite language to speak is English. He is a proud American.

In school he loved math, but no other subject. He went to the Army after high school, but wasn’t very serious about his life goals. His father had a major heart attack in 2003, due to stress and money problems. That opened his eyes, and at that moment he changed and knew he would earn enough to keep his family out of financial stress.

Grant speaks with people that have moved to power in their space and have generously given their time to speak to you about what they do. Idil “Idillionaire” Ahmed was born in Somalia, and moved to the US around the age of 3. By the age of 19 she was already earning money in marketing. She has a book on Amazon, “Getting Out of Your Way”.

While in Somalia, her father dealt with import and export with Germany, which exposed her to commerce at a young age. Once she started college she realized she could do business on her own, without ‘proper’ school instructions, so she started her own jewelry business while attending college. Soon she began to understand business margins by purchasing wholesale and selling retail. She then realized she needed to build a customer base, which got her into social media.

Her passion comes from living life to the fullest and doing things for the experience, from the discovering new outlets to accomplishing the tasks she set for herself. She never feels like the accomplishments are that big though simply because she is constantly moving forward. She doesn’t dwell on the successes, she looks into the future and focuses on what she has yet to accomplish.

• Learn how to turn social media into your Friend and your Marketing Partner.

Idil’s Biggest Mistake: In the beginning, she didn’t know how to adapt to the ever-changing style of Twitter and other social media outlets. She learned to change her point of view from just branding herself ON a platform to branding herself THROUGH the platform by learning the business model of Twitter and following the purpose of their platform changes.

Grant and Idillionaire take an in-depth approach to the discussion of her Tweets and their goals and purpose.

027: Matt Manero & Grant Cardone

Author: Grant Cardone
Tue, Jan 13, 2015

Grant considers Matt Manero, the owner of Commercial Fleet Financing, a personal friend as they both came from rough beginnings, losing their fathers at a young age, and working their way up through the entrepreneurial life to reach to the top tier of business.

Matt funded his own business that is now bringing in over 100 million dollars per year! Christian, one of Matt’s employees, introduced him to Grant’s work through The 10X Rule audiobook. He’s been operating with it since, which has been about one-and-a-half years. He said, “it was like pouring jet fuel on it.”

His family was comprised of blue-collar workers, immigrants from Ireland, showing up to work early and staying late—which influenced his youth strongly. He graduated with a degree in Hotel Restaurant Management, got a job with Hilton Hotels and they teach him how to sell. He floated around for a while, looking for a road map, the right vehicle to follow. He ended up with a fleet financing company and after helping to open a new location he realized he could do it on his own. He started his company 20 years ago, when he was 25, with a single chair, a table and a phone book.

Matt’s Tip: Stay out of false positive. You have aren’t being bugged by collectors, you can take your wife to dinner, you have money in your pocket; that’s a ‘false positive’. You have to pick your number, and it better be 6-figures and above.

If you’re making money, you have to put it away. It’s not just a steady climb up. You save up so when you do have to dip into it, you’re prepared.

Three Modes of Financial Life: Poor –> Accumulation Mode –> Rich

When it comes to no BS motivators Larry Winget is the man.The Pitbull of Personal Development® “World’s Only Irritational Speaker,” Six time New York Times/Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author and Star of A&E’s Big Spender joins Grant Cardone for some hysterical commiserating about average people making stupid decisions.

“Grow A Pair; How To Stop Being A Victim and Take Back Your Life, Your Business and Your Sanity” (2013)

He also offers the game changing 3 questions that solve any problem and you see the moment where Grant is lit up by it.
