This podcast delivers a series of classic short stories from the public domain via podcast. This is, in my opinion, an excellent idea. Classic authors H.G. Wells, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Edgar Allen Poe, and Mark Twain have been highlighted in past podcasts.

The podcast I reviewed and thoroughly enjoyed was Poe’s “The Tell Tale Heart.” I found the reading of the short story engaging though integrating different readers would add more interest to the podcast. The reader’s deep voice was especially suited for this dark tale. Subscribe to this podcast if you want to be introduced or reintroduced to some great literature via podcast.

In the Crackle Back Short Stories podcast, the host reads a classic story that is in the public domain (i.e. no longer under copyright protection). So far, the host has produced episodes containing selections from H.G. Wells, Mark Twain, Edgar Allan Poe, and F. Scott Fitzgerald.

I am a huge FSF fan, so I opted to listen to that podcast. I thought the host did a fairly good job of reading the story (which happens to be one of Fitzgerald's more obscure works). He made it interesting without going overboard and getting too dramatic. I think this podcast can be a great resource for people who don't have time to regularly sit down with a book. I give it 4 stars, and will definitely check back for other stories.

Crackle Back Short Stories Podcast presents a series of short stories available in the public domain. So far, the podcast has featured stories by such celebrated authors as Mark Twain, Edgar Allan Poe, F. Scott Fitzgerald and H.G. Wells.

The narrator delivers each story smoothly and with the right intonation. I listened to The Jumping Frog by Mark Twain and thoroughly enjoyed the story.

This podcast is a wonderful way to listen to great stories in your free time. The narrative time for each story ranges from eight to thirty minutes. The audio quality is good. I give this podcast 4.5 stars.
