Description

Overloaded? Maxed out? Our culture encourages us to live as if we have no limits. So we fill up our schedules and empty our bank accounts. We do as much as we can, spend as much as we can and acquire as much as we can.

In this six-part series, Andy Stanley explains that the secret to getting more out of life is not doing more, but doing less. We must learn to create margin to live the life God intended for us.

There's something in all of us that wants to walk as close to the line as possible. By setting moral margins, we protect ourselves from experiencing the consequences of sin. Because sexual sin has the greatest consequences, we should always ask ourselves, "Am I fleeing from or flirting with the line?"

A Random Christmas

Author: Andy Stanley
Sun, Dec 16, 2012

The ingredients in the Christmas story seem kind of random: an order from Caesar, a pregnant virgin, an angelic announcement, three wise men, and no room at the inn. Some of the circumstances you may be dealing with this year aren't exactly what you'd want in your story either. In this message, Andy challenges us to respond to the seemingly random curve balls in our lives the same way Mary reacted to the curve ball thrown at her.

Taking Responsibility for Your Life, Part Four - Embracing Your Response Ability

Author: Andy Stanley
Sun, Nov 25, 2012

Life isn't fair. When we draw the short straw, we're quick to point that out. We're quick to come up with excuses and deny the responsibilities we've been given, whether we've received much in life or very little. But the truth is, it's not about how unfair life is, it's really about how we respond. We don't get to choose which opportunities come our way, but we do get to choose our responses. Your response ability is up to you.

Taking Responsibility for Your Life, Part Three - This Is Not the Time to Pray

Author: Andy Stanley
Sun, Nov 18, 2012

"Let me pray about it" has somehow become our "get out of responsibility free" card. When faced with difficult, on-your-feet situations, we make excuses that sound prayerful and honest. But what if the time for prayer passes and you're still not moving? What if action is what's needed and you're still waiting? What if someone told you, "Don't just kneel there, do something!"? It's time for some action. This is no time to pray.

Taking Responsibility for Your Life, Part Two - The Disproportionate Life

Author: Andy Stanley
Sun, Nov 11, 2012

You probably haven't thought about the Archimedes Principle in years, but it's still true. Basically, it explains the buoyancy of water. When leveraged, ships float. When ignored, they sink. The same holds true with the nature of responsibility. If we leverage it, the outcome is a gift. If we ignore it, the outcome seems like a punishment. So how do we make the most of responsibility?

Recovery Road, Part Six - Entitled

Author: Andy Stanley
Sun, Sep 9, 2012

Are we too worried about what we're entitled to? And not worried enough about what we're doing with what we're entitled to? Jesus, the Son of God, was entitled to his apostles' praise. Yet rather than demanding his due, Jesus set an even more powerful example. He became a servant. In this message, Andy casts a vision for what we should do with the time, money and influence to which we are entitled. And he makes a big challenge for 2012...

Recovery Road, Part Five - The Spending Crisis

Author: Andy Stanley
Sun, Sep 2, 2012

We can be a nation that makes interest or that pays interest. The choice should be obvious. Yet, somewhere along the way, our national perspective on that choice changed. Debt used to be a burden of the poor. Now it's a "tool" used by everyone from the richest to the poorest. In this message, Andy reminds us of God's financial wisdom - wisdom that has been in the bible for 2,000 years. Maybe now is the time to start listening.

Author: Andy Stanley
Sun, Aug 26, 2012

In God We Trust. Or do we? It's our national motto. But is it still true? In this message, Andy Stanley challenges the nation to change our rhetoric and declare our dependence on Almighty God - like King Solomon did, like Abraham Lincoln did, like our nation's founding fathers did. Recovery needs God's blessings and favor. And blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.

Should our nation's recovery take its cue from 12-step recovery programs? In this message, Andy introduces us to a step we should all take - a step that starts with me, not you. A national recovery just might begin when Christians stop policing others and start owning and recovering from our own issues.

A Fortune 500 company has a conscience. But is there such a thing as a national conscience? If so, what governs the national conscience of the United States of America? Popular standards? Or is there something else?
