Kevin O'Hara from Alcohol Mastery reveals all his strategies and techniques for helping you to quit drinking permanently. Alcohol Mastery is structured around the belief that Heavy drinking is just a habit that has simply gotten out of control. It’s a habit that 80% of the population has been brainwashed into believing is the norm. And, it’s a habit that is very simple to quit… you simply stop drinking. Alcohol Mastery focuses on the immense gains you get when you move away from alcohol, rather than dwelling on the loss of the precious poison. It’s about stepping away from the alcoholic label, perpetuating the AA type ‘alcoholic forever’ mentality, and blaming the alcohol instead of the drinker. Alcohol Mastery is about guiding you onwards, toward your new life of freedom, control, and self respect. What does living till you die mean? Before, that would have meant drinking, smoking, taking risks. All the bullshit excuses that I’ve heard since I was a kid. You know what I’m talking about… The guy who says that “you only live once, why not enjoy yourself” while inhaling toxic fumes into his lungs and pouring toxic liquids into his body… If that’s what you want from life, go for it… It’s not for me… I’m done with going around in circles, looking for solutions at the bottom of a glass. I’ve seen the other side and there’s no going back for me. Make the commitment. See how good this life is. Don’t waste another moment kidding yourself.

Negativity affects all aspects of life, not just when you trying to quit drinking alcohol. I think negativity is a contributing factor in people drinking in the first place. Negativity distorts the world around you, at least your view of the world. It can become habitual, leading to poor physical and mental health, and can result in wrong thoughts, wrong decisions, and ultimately wrong choices.

On the one hand I feel exhilarated because I am meeting my granddaughter, spending a lot of time with my son, and on the other hand I feel sad because I feel like I have stepped back in time. You are a fully grown human being and you are the only one who decides how your social life plays out.
My own opinion is that if you try to live the same life and pursue the same social life that you were pursuing before quitting alcohol, if that social life used to evolve around alcohol - then you're going to have problems.

Quit smoking, quit taking heroin, quit watching too much TV and put that time into more productive effort, you'll be applauded. People can see that you're doing something good. But with alcohol, it's different, it's as if you suddenly have a problem now that you've stopped using, you have a problem now that you've stopped putting this toxin into your body. It's all part of the bullshit propaganda that's been built up over years and years.

When I first started out on this journey, I was kind of envious about other drinkers. They could do what I couldn't do. They were still getting drunk when they wanted to… I couldn't. They could "relax" with their favourite tipple… I couldn't. They could do what everyone else was doing… I couldn't. And worst of all, they looked at me with pity. They looked at me as if there was something wrong with me… Like I was the one with the problem :-)
