J.E., February 17, 2006
Reviewer: J.E.
from Chicago, Illinois
The UNICEF podcast gives listeners first-hand accounts of the plight of disadvantaged children around the world. Each episode is no more than about 15 minutes long, and focuses on a single topic such as AIDS, the education of women, and the devastating results of recent natural disasters. At the beginning there is a short introduction to give some background info, and then there are interviews with some of the people who are/were directly affected.
I think this podcast does a good job of presenting information without becoming too pandering or sentimental. It was interesting, yet detached; it reminded me of the way National Geographic handles these stories. If you are interested in the condition of children in the poorest countries of the world, then you should listen to this podcast and support UNICEF.
