Penton Overseas
Penton Overseas offers 200 + titles for those who are serious about becoming proficient at a foreign language. These titles are offered to people who want to learn in the covenience of their home, garden or car. There is also a travel section that offers these language titles as a way of preparing for a big vacation or to just learn about another culture in general before visiting it.
While there is some variance in what is provided for each language, most sections offer some core options to get you started. The major languages offered are Japanese, French, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish, Chinese and English as a second language. The first major option is the Learn In Your Car series. These programs are digestible language tutorials offered in 3 step by step levels that you can listen to wherever you are. You can purchase these items in sets or buy each level individually. The second core option is the Vocabulearn series, which presents vocabulary words that will beef up the building blocks of the language you are trying to learn. You can get Vocabulearn options for each of the core languages, plus versions for additional languages such as Hebrew, Korean, Swedish and much more. Finally there's the 24 series, which is offered with most of the major languages. This set combines all 3 levels of the In Your Car programs, plus the Vocabulearn sets in one big package. With this set you also get an "Immersion Plus" program that will further help you with language comprehension. To round out the core learning curriculum there are miscellaneous products that can help you augment the main language programs. These include items such as card games, a housekeeping tape series, word booster cd's, quick travel tutorials, video tapes on a given language topic, accent reduction guides and flash card visual aids. These items vary for each language but help to suplement the main items listed.
