A Reader's Guide Through the Wardrobe

A Reader's Guide Through the Wardrobe

Exploring C.S. Lewis's Classic Story

by Leland Ryken

Hear Sample Digital MP3

In this interactive, informative book, Lewis scholar Majorie Lamp Mead and literary expert Leland Ryken unlock the door to The Lion, The Witch and The Wardobe, inviting you to step inside - deeper and deeper, past the musty fur coats - and gaze in wide-eyed wonder once again at the magical, wintery world Lucy first found.

A Reader's Guild Through the Wardrobe helps ou examine the story from Lewis's point of view, shedding light on his imagination and use of literary forms. Even further, Mead and Ryken serve as guides through this first Narnia adventure, providing an inside look at characters, settings and framework. Here is a book that will help you see Narnia as Lucy did - with childlike wonder and anticipation for the adventure that lies ahead.

Leland Ryken is Clyde S. Kilby Professor of English at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illionois. He has written, edited or contributed to (so far) twenty-five books, including The Christian Imagination and Dictonary of Biblical Imagery

Marjorie Lamp Mead has been Associate Director of the Marion E. Wade Center at Wheaton since 1977. She is editor (with Lyle W. Dorsett) of C. S. Lewis: Letters to Children and managing editor of Seven: An Anglo-American Literary Review.

Write a Review of A Reader's Guide Through the Wardrobe

Excellent literary approach to the book, December 29, 2006
Reviewer: stavis from Copenhagen S,

This book is a wonderfully accessible literary analysis of "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe." It uses correct literary terminology to help the reader achieve a better understanding of how the book works as a piece of literature. The Christian element in the Narnian tales is placed into a context and not used as a typological key meant to unlock everything in the books. This literary guide is not overtly bias one way or the other and that is rare in secondary literature about Narnia.
