From Amazon.com:
Here, the man who started the "food revolution" with the million-plus-selling Diet for a New America, boldly posits that, collectively, our personal diet can save ourselves and the world. If, according to chaos theory, the beating of a butterfly's wing can cause a hurricane in another part of the world, try this out for chaotic cause and effect: monarch butterflies are dying in droves due to genetically-engineered corn growing in the Midwest. There is also a direct correlation between the Big Mac in your hand and the mile-wide river now running across the North Pole. Learn the truth about foods we are eating that are, in Robbins' words, "unsafe on any plate."

General Content: If there ever was an audiobook that would make you think twice about becoming a vegetarian, this is certainly the one. While many other authors tend to use more of a spiritual or emotional argument for shunning meat, Robbins goes beyond that and offers goes beyond that offering the environment, famine prevention and disease elimination among his reason for a plant-based diet. It's a very compelling argument and one that I think would cause all but the most closed-minded individuals to reconsider how they eat.
His section on genetically-modified foods was particularly enlightening...and frightening. The close ties between government and the companies that produce GMOs were interesting to hear about. It's amazing how much what we eat is driven by the profit motive, whether that be through advertising, government lobbying, etc. The Food Revolution has already had a tremendous impact on thousands of individuals and for good reason. After listening to this title I'm convinced that many of the world's problems can be solved (or at least minimized) by a shift to a more sustainable and ecologically-friendly diet.
Audio-Specific Content: I listened to the abridged version (6 hours and 40 minutes) of this title on cassette. It was narrated by the author who did a very good job. The only downside of listening to this on audio is not being able to track the footnotes, of which there are many. If you're a person who likes to see the documentation that supports a title then you may want to read the book. Otherwise, the audio version is an adequate replacement.
