Homer Audio

In the Western classical tradition, Homer is most notably known as the author of The Iliad and The Odyssey and is revered as the greatest ancient Greek epic poet. These epics are the beginning of Western Literature and have had an enormous influence on the history of literature. There is speculation however, over when Homer actually lived. Some believed that he lived 850 BC while other sources suggest that he lived closer to the supposed time of the Trojan War, in the early 12th century BC. Modern scholars also suggest that "Homer" does not refer to a singular individual, but rather a period of time when the epics were created. Also, there is conjecture as to the development of the epic poems. The epic poems of course being The Iliad and The Odyssey could have been constructed gradually over an extended period of time and eventually compiled into those two epics.

If you would like to delve into some of the works of Homer on audio book, then you should listen to The Iliad as well as The Odyssey complete and unabridged on audio download.
