Ernest Hemingway Audio & Video

Ernest Hemingway was an American author as well as a journalist. Most of his work was produced in the 1920s to 1950s and he won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954. He published seven novels, six short story collections, and two non-fiction works. Several of his works are considered classic American literature and were so successful because the characters that are presented within them resonate well with his audience. Hemingway has made a legacy within American literature. Many writers who have come after him have tried to emulate his style, and many believe that his style was strongly influenced by his time enlisted as an ambulance driver in World War I. Also, because he started out writing short stories, he learned to "get the most from the least." Hemingway went on to describe his style as the Iceberg theory: the facts float above water while the supporting structure and symbolism operate out of sight.
