Alan Venable grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  After college, he was a teacher in Africa and traveled in other parts of the world.  He has written many books for Start-to-Finish, as well as plays, novels, and children’s books.  He has two children and lives in an old house in San Francisco, California.
