LearnOutLoud.com Review
This second part of Bill Moyers' conversation with mythologist Joseph Campbell in 1981 covers a range of topics. Campbell talks about various creation myths and the attempt to get back to the garden. He touches on the mythology of the serpent across cultures. Moyers questions Campbell about fairy tales, which have happy endings, so they can be mythology for children. Campbell talks about the transition from boyhood into adulthood and the challenge of getting stuck. He speaks on the importance of ritual and art to carry myths through the ages. At the end, Campbell talks about some of his favorite artists and poets of the modern age. Whether these myth makers could carry to a whole culture nowadays, Campbell is doubtful.
