The Wal-Mart Effect author Charles Fishman goes behind the curtain of one of the world's biggest corporations in this lecture provided by Books Inc. If you've ever wondered how Wal-Mart keeps its prices so low, Fishman offers a carefully investigated study of the company’s highly-secretive and ultra-competitive strategy. He also offers his view of how massive companies such as Wal-Mart are now changing the way the world does business and what it means for the state of capitalism in the 21st century. This video provides both sides of the story... the good and the bad effects of Wal-Mart on our economy and the world. Most interesting "meta" concept to me: He describes many reasons to fear and seek some sort of control of Wal-Mart, but (like me and my family members) he continues to shop there! The bottom line: This is a half-hour well-spent in broadening your knowledge of the effects of the phenomenon which is Wal-Mart.
