  • Marija Gimbutas Vindicated! w/Carol Christ & Miriam Dexter
    Thu, Dec 28, 2017

Many of us, along with Marija Gimbutas, believed her work would eventually be vindicated.  We ARE the cognitive minority, waiting for the rest of the world to catch up to many ideals of the Sacred Feminine, including the work of scholar, Marija Gimbutas.  Tune in tonight as I discuss this wonderful and long awaited development with elders and scholars, Carol Christ and Miriam Robbins Dexter. In the words of Carol, "The disdain with which the work of archaeologist Marija Gimbutas has been held in the field of classics and archaeology was shown to me when I started quietly at a cocktail party at the American School of Classical Studies in Athens that I was interested in her work.  This comment, tentatively offerred, onleashed a tirade from a  young female archaeologist who began shouting at me:  "Her work unscholarly and because it is, it is harder for me and other women scholars in the field to be taken seriously."   (From the Feminism and Religion blog)If you're new to this subject, we'll start at the beginning, briefly discussing Marija's findings and why male dominated academia for so long discredited her work, followed by this new revelation by Lord Colin Renfrew, allied with the British Conservative Party.  We'll discuss the politics of this situation as well as other peripheral areas in which this new revelation will no doubt have a domino effect. You won't want to miss this.  Be sure to tell your friends!  Thanks to Carol Christ for taking to the airwaves for this important discussion.  Certainly a bright spot for us all in a very dark year!

  • Power of Goddess Ideals To Change the World w/Karen Tate
    Thu, Nov 30, 2017

For those of you disheartened you were not in Southern CA to hear this talk LIVE, here it is - the long version - for your listening pleasure....You are not alone if you believe domination and authoritarian patriarchy are destroying countless lives and our planet.  There is a more sustainable alternative and it's not new.  In fact, it's ancient.  Exiled for a time, but making a return, the Sacred Feminine (deity, archetype and ideal) has become indelibly integrated into our lives, reminding humanity during this time of crisis that the ideals of the Great She offer a pathway to a secure and more sustainable future.  As people lose faith in organized religion, as the paradign of power shifts across the globe, as climate change quickly approaches a point of no return, people are leading using their divine intelligence from Goddess teachings to find solutions and sanctuary.  Using the wisdom and activism suggested in sacred feminine liberation thealogy, I will discuss the many ways Goddess Spirituality has grown and matured in the minds of Her advocates to inspire the birth of a new world and usher in a time of security, partnership, peace, equality and prosperity for all. ---   Your comments are appreciated!

  • Food for Thought: Spiritual Morality vs Church & State w/Karen Tate
    Tue, May 17, 2016

Special Event:  Food for Thought Series"Spiritual Morality of Caring Economics vs Separation of Church and State"Tune in tonight while I fill you in on some food for thought that was a result of a presentation I made recently as part of a Riane Eisler Center for Partnership Studies class on Caring Economics I've been enrolled in.  The subject came up that feminists have often divorced their social justice work from religion or spirituality.  Myself, I believe in using critical thinking to reconcile one's spirituality and politics. Some think the two do not have to be in sync and when one does bring religion into lawmaking and policy, then we perhaps are on a slippery slope toward violating the sanctity of the separation of church and state protections provided by the Constitution.  Listen in and you decide.

  • Animals & the Spiritual Imagination w/Sabina Magliocco
    Thu, May 07, 2015

Our interview tonight:¬† Animals and the Spiritual Imagination with Dr. Sabina Magliocco, PhD,¬† Professor of Anthropology at California State University, Northridge, CA.¬† Throughout history and in many different cultures, animals have been imagined as totems, spirit guides, divine messengers, even goddesses and gods.¬† But how do we imagine our spiritual relationship to other animals today? My work explores this question by examining both mainstream cultural and religious practices and those of contemporary Pagans, a group of religions that revive some practices of pre-Christian cultures, finding surprising confluences between the two.¬† My conclusion is that as animals, especially domestic ones, are increasingly granted a place in our family lives, their role in our spiritual imagination is also shifting.¬† And given the danger to all living species on our planet today, that could be a very good thing.Dr. Magliocco, a recipient of Guggenheim, National Endowment for the Humanities, Fulbright and Hewlett fellowships, and an honorary Fellow of the American Folklore Society,¬† has published on religion, folklore, foodways, festival and witchcraft in Europe and the United States, and is a leading authority on the modern Pagan movement. She is the author of numerous books and articles, including The Two Madonnas: the Politics of Festival in a Sardinian Community (1993, 2005), Witching Culture: Folklore and Neo-Paganism in America (2004), Neopagan Sacred Art & Altars: Making Things Whole (2001), and with filmmaker John M. Bishop produced the documentary film series ‚ÄúOss Tales,‚ÄĚ on a May Day custom in Cornwall and its reclamation by American Pagans.¬† Her current research is on animals in the spiritual imagination

    Fri, Feb 13, 2015

Fairy tales are the simplest experesion of archetypal patterns.  Junians love to work with fairy tales and myths to better understand our personal dream stories, which often reflect these archetypal themes.  While it seem as if many of our inherited fairy tales have a patriarchal bent, it is also true that these fairy tales show us how to deal with this overbearing patriarchal attitude.  Archetypal paterns self-correct, and so instead of Sleeping Beauty waiting for her prince to save her, these tales expressed what the Feminine Principle needs to learn to "do" (the masculine energy) to deal with the situation.  The heroines of these tales were, in fact, learning to save themselves.  That's the message we're seeing today in movies such as Maleficent and Frozen andon TV in Once Upon a Time.  Cathy will also share some stories about her favorite heras/heroines:  Scheherazade, Dame Ragnell and Allerleirauh. We'll discuss what are archetypes, why it is important to understand symbolic language, why a feminist approach to fairy tales is more limiting than a symbolic one and much more.  Tune in!

  • Beyond 50 Shades of Grey/Sex, Drugs and Religion in the Ancient World
    Tue, Dec 31, 2013

I'm calling tonight's show, Beyond 50 Shades of Grey.....not to be sensational but because this interview is not for the faint of heart or sexually repressed.   Dr. David Hillman, returns to fearlessly discuss what his research into ancient times reveals about how closely linked sex, drugs and religion were in the ancient world.  Dr. Hillman, who translates his own Greek and does not have to rely on filtered Christian translations to know what the ancients were up to, cites ancient sources giving us a glimpse into what was going on in the ancient mystery cults and how sacred sexuality exhalted women.  Never a disappointment, David explains why there was no distinction between sex and religion in the ancient world, why Christianity fought so hard against these Pagan practices, why ancient women mounted phallic statues and performed vaginal penetration via stone, inserted snakes in their vaginas and what orgies and orgasms led to in ancient times - not what you think!   This wasn't all about sexual gratification - in fact there was a much higher intention involved.  Dr. Hillman reveals ancient sources who tell us about all this and more -  snake venoms used in cultic sexual rituals popular in Greece and Rome and how classical civilization relied heavily upon the use of cannibis, opiates and hallucinogens, mixed with sexual stimulants.  Not beholding to organized and conservative Academia, Dr. Hillman shares what the ancients were actually saying, not what's politically correct!  You're in for some jaw-dropping stuff so hang on to your seat!In the second half of the show, we have Lauren Nicole Mills will share with us tips for Goal Setting for the New Year!

  • Why Buildings Fell 9-11 & Understanding Reiki's Power
    Thu, Apr 04, 2013

Tonight for your listening pleasure we will start off with a very controversial topic that might sound off-topic, but is it really?  Why the Buildings Fell on 9/11.  David Chandler, retired physics and math teacher for three decades got curious about how the buildings could have fallen on 9-11 after seeing videos. He drew on his knowledge and experience to analyze what he saw happening and he's going to share it with you.  Why isn't this off-topic for us?  Well, once one considers how history has been written by the conquerors, how patriarchy uses sexism, racism and worker exploitation to get what it wants, how Herstory has been subverted, how an administration can lie a country into a bogus war - then your mind opens to many possibilities and one has to have the courage to ask hard questions of the status quo and use critical thinking even when it leads to disturbing possibilities! Then in the second part of the show, Dominick James, author of The Reiki Man trilogy, will talk about the power of using Reiki.  We'll look at what it is, why some in the Church are so afraid of it and warn their congregants against using it.  We'll also discuss what Reiki can lead to and how it might help your life.

Our Messiah of Ten Thousand Names - Presented onMagna Mater Palm Sunday @ the  Goddess Temple of Orange County.Within Judeo-Christian tradition, Palm Sunday traditionally commemorates the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover.
