For his second nomination as President, having made an unsuccessful bid in 1952 with John Sparkman as his running mate, Adlai Stevenson attempted a second bid for the Presidency in 1956. This time with Estes Kefauver, notable for his Senate Subcommittee hearings on Organized crime, as his running mate. Stevenson officially began his campaign in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
