Time film critics Richard Schickel and Richard Corliss tell Charlie Rose how they made their selections for the magazine's All-Time 100 Movies list. The list ranges far and wide, from 8-1/2 to The 400 Blows; from A Hard Day's Night to Day for Night; from King Kong to The Fly to E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. And while it includes such perennial favorites as Casablanca and Citizen Kane, it also includes surprises like The Purple Rose of Cairo and The Singing Detective.

'Charlie Rose: All-TIME 100 Movies' is an interesting audio title in which Richard Schickel and Richard Corliss, film critics with TIME magazine, explain to Charlie Rose the procedure as well as reasons for choosing the top 100 movies of all time. The two critics chose from all the movies produced beginning from the time when the magazine's first issue was published in March, 1923.
They first made a list each of their own favourite movies. The critics' own personal choice was reflected in their lists. At the same time, they try to be inclusive of cinema from all over the world, and not only American movies. Finally, they compared the lists, debated, and then selected the top 100. This list includes some predictable names, such as E.T.-The Extra-Terrestrial and Casablanca. It also springs some surprises, with movies like The Singing Detective making it in the 100.
All in all, this is a very interesting audio title. The audio quality is not very good, as their is a slight echo in the recording. Still, I give this title 4 stars.
