Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, affectionately called the "father of motivation" by his fans, is one of the most widely known and respected people in the field of self-empowerment. Soon after Dyer was born, his father walked out on his family, forcing him to spend 10 years in orphanages and foster homes. Instead of this being a sad beginning, Dyer has come to think of it as a valuable lesson in self reliance. Indeed, this conviction has been shown to be quite true: Dyer went on to get a doctorate in counseling & psychotherapy, and has overcome many obstacles to make his dreams come true. Today he uses much of his time in teaching everyone else how to do the same. Dyer describes himself as an eternal soul disguised as an author, lecturer, devoted father, husband, jogger, and a thousand other things. When not traveling the planet sharing his message in lectures and seminars, Dyer calls Maui, Hawaii his home.
