We are all economists—when we work, buy, save, and invest.
It repays us many times over to be good economists.
This course is in two major segments. The first half examines microeconomics: studying the economy from the "bottom up" to understand how individuals, families, and firms make decisions about working, spending, investing, and saving.
The second half of the course focuses on macroeconomics: studying the economy from the "top down" to understand growth rates, employment, inflation, and trade deficits.
Among the issues addressed in this course:
- What causes changes in the stock market?
- Do markets cause pollution and poverty?
- How might economic events abroad affect you?
- Does the minimum wage cause unemployment?
