Jeffrey Dahmer killed seventeen men and boys between 1978 and 1991. Throughout the interview, Lionel expresses anguish about not being able to see the signs that his son was a serial killer. Lionel analyzes his son's behavior when he was younger to try to determine the root causes. After the trial, Lionel and his wife Joyce grew closer to Jeffrey through visits and encouraged him in their Christian faith. Lionel Dahmer was a chemist who valued science and wanted a scientific study done of his son to determine what was wrong with him. It's a sometimes disturbing interview with the father of one of the most notorious serial killers of all time.
