Tales from Shakespeare by Charles Lamb and his sister Mary Lamb was written in 1807 with the young reader in mind, in an attempt to introduce them to the stories of the plays of William Shakespeare. In these short summaries of 20 Shakespeare plays Charles & Mary Lamb attempt to use the words of Shakespeare along with the English tongue of Shakespeare's time to tell the stories of each play. Each summary runs about 20 to 30 minutes in audio length, and they cover most of Shakespeare's most popular plays from the tragedies of Hamlet and Macbeth to the comedies of A Midsummer Night's Dream and Much Ado About Nothing. These summaries serve as great refreshers for fans of Shakespeare and introductions for plays you might interested in reading. They are read by one of Librivox's best narrators named Karen Savage.
