LearnOutLoud.com Review
Though he regretted its publication in later years, Mark Twain’s long-form essay “What is Man?” offers an enriching neo-platonic dialogue between two men on the opposite ends of life as they hash out the true nature of Man. The more determined older man has come to view human beings as desire-chasing machines, while his younger companion pushes back with a more idealistic view. Other essays in this collection include Twain’s thoughts on ancient divination, a personal history with Shakespeare, how he learned to ride a bicycle, how to deal with tobacco snobs, English language annoyances, and other historical oddities he thought were worth investigating (or maybe just poking fun at). The audio book is read by Librivox's
John Greenman
who narrates many of Mark Twain's audio books on Librivox.org.
