This book is without a doubt one of the most influential books I have read. This book not only discusses how we, our generation, can end poverty but it also takes a global view of how our world came to be the way it is. Some of the things I discovered about our culture and its past support of poverty reduction were very suprising. This book thoroughly demonstrates with countless examples how throwing money at a problem does not solve it. Sach's discusses methods for reducing poverty with much emphasis on the economics of it all. Don't worry if you are not familiar with this subject, because he is very thorough in his explanation. After you read this I'm sure you will think very differently of yourself and the world around you. Just read the preface and intro -- I guarantee you will not put it down after that. If you care about helping others in need but don't know where to look for guidance, let this book be your stepping stone towards your own path.
